I can't say enough good things about Lorin Oberweger's
editing. I was in a rut with my work--so much so that I wondered if I would ever write,
let alone publish, again. Lorin turned out to be the most marvelous mentor and editor a
writer could wish for. She made astute, concise comments about my work. And not only that,
the manner in which she guided me gave me a spark that breathed life into my work again. A
story I worked on and struggled with on and off for years was just taken by a top literary
magazine--after I took Lorin's advice. Poetry she critiqued ended up in a national
magazine and several other literary magazines; my collection even won a national chapbook
award. She's the kind of teacher and editor who allows me to do my best work and to stretch
to new heights. Thank you, Lorin! |

Without Lorin I would never have published my first
piece. I knew when she returned the story to me with no changes that it would be published
(and it was). She is the best judge of the worthiness of the written word that I have ever
known. I can always count on her honesty and fairness. If a story or novel passes through
her hands, an aspiring author has at least a one hundred percent better chance of being
accepted by another editor or an agent. |

Lorin has an uncanny knack for identifying problems in
the development of fiction before they can wreak havoc. Her lucid suggestions illuminate
the text in surprising ways, and her insightful and practical comments allow a writer to
make rapid progress from conception to completion. She knows her stuff! |

Lorin Oberweger provided me
with the most constructive and professional criticism I've ever received as a writer. She
was fast and right on target with her suggestions. I don't consider Lorin simply an
editor; I consider her a mentor. She can spot barricades to good writing a mile away and
help you remove them without making you feel like a hack. |

Now that I have completed the editing I can say
unequivocally that your suggestions greatly improved my novel. Not only was I able to
improve the grammar, I was able to tighten the writing and improve the pace by revising
the passive passages. The net effect is a manuscript that looks professional and reads
considerably better. |

Lorin will give you what you expect. She'll review your
work in a meaningful way and get you on the track to making it the best it can be. But
you'll get a bonus with Lorin. She'll teach you how to write successfully. In my case, she
taught me how the novel should be written. That's more than I bargained for. |

I've probably spent enough money on how-to books to
wipe out the national debt. Most of them only confused me. I've attended so many writer's
workshops, they've begun to feel like AA meetings. So, when I contacted Lorin for editing
help, I didn't expect much. I was wrong. I've learned more working with Lorin than I have
from all those self-help books and workshops. I like the way Lorin respects your work. She
doesn't seem bent on 'fixing' you, or changing your style. But she's also not shy about
telling you what she thinks. You can count on her to be frank and honest -- always. She
does this by gently coaching you in the right direction.

I was very satisfied with the work Lorin did on my
first finished novel... I don't envy her, slogging through all 600+ pages to come up with
a concise, detailed report that cut right to the heart of what was wrong, and what was
right, with the manuscript.. Her remedies, though hard to swallow (a writer's pride being
what it is), were right on target. With her aid, I fully intend to turn this behemoth into
a svelte, sellable manuscript.... With all the folks I send her way, and the quality of
her work, I have only one concern, and it's a big one: will she be available to work on my
next book? |

In my case, Lorin Oberweger's help went well beyond the
technical aspects of this publishing business. With Lorin, I felt as if I had someone on
my side, someone who's been humanly supportive of me as I tackled the task of bringing my
novel to light. Knowing that she was truly interested and actually cared about my novel
meant as much as her help with the technical details. I felt that she was really in my
corner and would enjoy watching me succeed. Her help was valuable beyond words. |

As a freelance humorist I feel working with Lorin
Oberweger has greatly improved my ability to hone a gift into a skill. Through her
judicious editing I've learned to tighten and focus my work, and recognize some of the
pitfalls that plague most new writers. She has an easygoing professional style that makes
learning from your own mistakes almost painless. |

An experienced writer and editor, Lorin possesses an
uncanny insight into what other writers are trying to say even when they're a little, or a
lot, shy of the mark. She has mastered the art of 'gentle nudgery' to aim writers in their
proper directions. |

Thank you so much for the wonderful critique. [My
creative writing instructor] critiqued this same story, but she only had praise for
it--yet I knew in my gut that it needed work. Thank you for showing me the way! |
